Chapter 3

Darkness

He was seated in the dark room, staring blindly out at the skyscrapers and high rise buildings outside his window, unlike him, he felt comfortable in the dark with his thoughts.

“It just doesn’t add up” He said to himself , he got up and looked downstairs through his window, His stature was that of a gladiator, He was a man in control of his body and emotions, he was a blonde with a symmetrical face and Hazel coloured eyes to match. He was six foot eleven with the lean muscular body of a man who kept himself in good physical condition, He had been in the office since he received a text from Diego earlier in the day.

“… Philip, Dad’s dead, they said it was a shipwreck, please come to Paris as soon as you can, let’s sort it out…”

Wayne Book, Founder and owner of Heiscephas apparels, the fourth largest clothing company in the world, an organization that was the talk of every household, it would have been insane to think that Wayne Book would die at such a young age, He had been so full of life, always on the move, full of energy, a bit controversial but definitely inventional, he moved from office to office through nations around the world, solving problems of the company, suggesting concepts and making decisions that would make or Mar the economy of nations around the world, Although he had a wife and children, his real focus had always been on the business, Wayne Book had been an excellent and outstanding man, who would take over from him, who was capable of managing the empire he had left, It had to be Diego, but then with Wayne Book you can never be too sure…

Philip’s phone beeped.

“Hello”

“Hey bro, what’s up ” Cole said

“I’m good man, Just here, you?”

“Pretty good over here too, Just trying to clear up a potential sanction..”

“A sanction, how?”

“It’s not that serious though or I thought so, one of these prominent men bought one of our shoes and unfortunately he slipped at his home and twisted his ankle and now he wants to sue…

They both burst into laughter

“It’s funny how people are loosing their sense of basic reasoning ” Philip said

“Seriously, I think very soon we’ll be telling to wear shoes on their feet” Cole added

They both laughed again

“Did you get the news?” Cole asked

“Yeah, I got a text from Diego earlier in the day, he said it was a shipwreck…

“Yeah, that’s what I’ve been thinking about, you don’t think that…..”

“No, He’s not that ambitious” Philip cut him short

“Well, I’ll soon be on my way to Paris and you should be too, you know Diego doesn’t like delays” Cole said

“Yeah, once I clear up here, I’ll be on my way” Philip said as he cut the call

“Diego” Philip said to himself

Diego had always been successful from a young age, he was a captain, a leader and the most outstanding of his brothers, but he had a darker side to his nature which he rarely displayed, a not-so-nice behavior which he always shielded with his natural charm, he had only displayed it once when they were little…

Philip’s thoughts went back to his father, he had last seen him at the Sao Paulo Cathedral in Brazil and they rarely spoke since then. “May his soul rest in peace” He said

Two hours later, Philip Book was on company plane headed for Paris.
