“To be or not to be, that was the question they always forget to ask themselves” Dave thought as he stared at the Brazilian model on his bed.
“Gabriella or something like that ” he said to himself as he got up and donned his shorts and shirt, “It doesn’t matter anyway”
Dave believed that life was for the taking and he knew he had the warmth and charm that was necessary for it, Right from a youthful age he had been a hunter, a go-getter, call him whatever you may, but he always went for what he wanted and he was not used to getting no for an answer, and fortunately or unfortunately he applied that to his affairs with women.
“This lady doth protest too much methinks” He said while picking up his phone and tried to sneak out of the Five star Heiscephas hotel room.
“ Where are you going? ”
“Nowhere actually, Just thought I could go for a walk or something”
“We could go together ”
“We, there is no we”
“What do you mean ”
“Honestly, it was fun and all, and you’re pretty nice too but it just can’t work—
“ What! ”
“See, it’s not you, trust me, it’s me, we have different views and stuff like that, you know —
“ Get out! ”
“ Ouch, that’s a bit mean ” Dave said sarcastically while leaving the room.
He got into the elevator and proceeded downwards while humming a familiar tune, he got off the elevator and walked through the reception towards the door.
“Hope you enjoyed your stay, Mr Book”
“ Si ”
Dave stepped out of the hotel heading towards the driveway and got into his Ferrari F8 Tribute.
He eased into the road and picked up a pace of 245km/h in a matter of eight seconds, Yeah, he loved the fast lane, the speed made him feel on a different plane from anyone else. He took a right turn and stole a quick glance at the Sao Paulo Cathedral.
“ Definitely worth being called the fourth largest neo-gothic Cathedral in the world ” He said to himself.
His father had taken him there as a child, well actually with his brothers, the cathedral was pretty beautiful from the inside with its large colourful windows, the frames possibly made from granite, its pretty marbles, The black and white floor that reminded him of a chess board, but with all its beauty and pomp and Glory, He and his brothers agreed on one thing, they hated the place. “This place is messed up” he could remember Diego vividly saying.
He and Diego had been pretty close when they were younger, but over the years they had drifted apart, He kept in touch with the others but somehow not with Diego, He could not remember any event that caused the split and being apart for the eight years did not help matters—
“Si, probably for the best” Dave shrugged.
He drove into the Avenida Paulista and eased into the driveway of his mansion at the Jardim Europa neighbourhood with its estimated 2,800m² of land and 1,300m² of built area.
He got down from his car, shut the door and proceeded towards the door of his house, he opened the door and stepped in—
“ Bem-vindo Senhor ”
“ Si ”
“Gostaria de comer senhor”
“I’m not hungry” he said while removing his shoes, instinctively he touched his pocket for his phone, when he eventually felt it he got it out and stared at a text from Diego , he then turned to stare at Melissa for what felt like a long time, and for the first time in his life, Dave felt scared and alone.
