It took him about five minutes to strip the dead man and put on his clothes.
He had already considered all available options and the only way was down…literally…he had to take the stairs down…who knew how many more enemies lurked below…
He wiped the blood off the dagger, He switched the pistol from his left hand to the right… he turned off the now blinking light in the room and he started walking slowly but steadily downwards into the dark abyss.
He got down the first floor without much stress… But while approaching the second floor he picked up a familiar scent… Fried eggs… He felt a sudden chill down his spine. He had two options at the moment, He could put on the mask and go join the “group” and hope he won’t be recognized or he could just burst in with the pistol and shoot at a rapid rate and hope for the best.. Neither of the options boasted of a success rate of more than twenty percent.

A thought suddenly came to his mind, He searched his pockets and brought out the pack of cigarettes and the lighter which he had carried earlier.
He studied the environment, It was an apartment, Probably abandoned by the residents, He also noticed the windows were closed.
“Good” Dave said to himself.
He took out a cigar and lit it…After a while he dropped it at the base of the stairs and he tiptoed up the stairs back to the room where he had been kept.
As soon as he got there, He shut the door with brute force… At that instant the sound of the door echoed throughout the building and Dave was sure the men heard it.
“The element of surprise never fails” Dave whispered to himself as he crouched in the dark, still room and waited patiently for them.
